NJ Veterans Guide – this was put together by GCADA and the NJ Dept. of Veterans Affairs. The latest update was in early 2019.

Veterans Haven North, NJ – “Veteran’s Haven North is located on top of a scenic mountain in Glen Gardner, New Jersey. With its tranquil surroundings, state of the art facility, and specialized staff, Veteran’s Haven North boasts the perfect combination for a highly effective and efficient transitional housing program for homeless veterans.”

Veterans Haven South, NJ – “Veterans Haven is located in Camden County, rural South New Jersey in Winslow, New Jersey on the border of Atlantic and Camden Counties and serves veterans from all over the State of New Jersey. The program occupies one three story building on State property halfway between Atlantic City and Camden on the Route 30 corridor. The facility is also on the main bus link between Atlantic City and Camden as well as the high-speed train line. The facility boasts a newly completed addition which increased facility capacity by 44 beds and added a new high-tech computer lab, laundry rooms with state-of-the-art machinery, an advanced fitness room, and renovated dining area.”

CRC Health Group Military Programs – This program provides “clinically superior behavioral healthcare treatment opportunities to Veterans and the men and women who serve in our nation’s Armed Forces and their families. SemperFido – The Mission of Semper Fido’s program is to unite wounded warriors suffering with PTSD with homeless, rescue shelter dogs, who are evaluated and deemed viable, to nurture a healing and rejuvenating bond between the two. The result is a positive, nonjudgmental, unconditional relationship desperately needed by both.

National Call Center for Homeless Veterans: If you are a veteran at risk of homelessness or in need of immediate assistance, call 1-877-424-3838 (1-877-4AID-VET). When you call you will be connected to a trained responder who will assess your needs and help you find the appropriate resources

Transitional Housing Program for Homeless Veterans: This program seeks to restore the dignity and purpose to those who served our country, with transitional housing.

The Homelessness Prevention Program: This program provides financial assistance for tenants and homeowners at risk of eviction or foreclosure. Call (866)-889-6270.

Veterans Campuses with a PTSD Clinical Team: There are two VA Hospitals in NJ that have specialized PTSD Clinical teams, the East Orange campus, and the Lyons campus. For the East Orange PTSD outpatient clinical team call (973) 676-1000 x12664. The Lyons campus has an outpatient PTSD Clinical team (call (908) 647-0180 X4862), a residential program (call (908) 647-0180 X1-4613).

VA Centers with Substance Use Disorder Programs: The East Orange Campus of the VA NJ Health Care System has both residential and outpatient programs for substance use disorder, as well as an opioid treatment program. Other VA Medical Centers still offer treatment, they just may not have a specific program.

Women’s Trauma Recovery: The Lyons Campus of the NJ New Jersey Health Care System has an inpatient trauma recovery program for female veterans. Call (908) 647-0180 X 1-5896.
