What do you like best about this course?:

Guest speakers, professor's energy, emphasis on substance use

The way he keep us engage during the whole semester, every week we have something to do.

Professor Greenagel is always prepared for class and teaches more than what is in the textbook. He always makes sure to engage the class, and speaks more about just "general social work". He teaches us about our writing skills: incorporating Orwell and Shakespeare into our writing. He also lets us know the dos and dont's of a real life therapy session.

Everything! Honestly, Prof Greenagel is a professor that has taught more in more class than I might have learned my two years in the social work program.

Great lectures

Everything. The professor covered everything you can imagine needing to learn when it comes to social work and life in general. I gained so much knowledge. The best was the most basic things such as finances, well being and similar things. I've had other professors mention these things, but not in such an insightful and helpful manner as Greenagel. His entertaining personality made a three hour class great and fast. His knowledge is amazing.

I actually did learn a lot in this course, which was a nice change of pace from the rest of the senior social work curriculum. I wasn't sure what to expect from the name of the class, but I was pleasantly surprised.

I absolutely loved Professor Greenagel. I found him to be both an inspiring and influential teacher. If he could teach all of my social work classes I feel as though my money at Rutgers would have been well spent. He communicated information to us that no other teachers had bothered to teach. I don't believe that there is a lazy bone in his body! I would absolutely take his class again, it was truly one of the best classroom experiences that I have had. I really cannot emphasize that enough.

Reading articles from newspapers, stories from the field, personal advice from the instructor

Valuable information each and every week. Professor covered material that no other social work professor has ever covered. Very passionate professor and cared about students and profession.

I enjoyed the interconnectedness between course content and how it related to our future practice in social work as well as our current field placements.

The topics discussed, the atmosphere, and having fun while learning probably the most I've ever learned in a class.

I liked everything about this course. Greenagel had a way of keeping us awake for a 9am class. The material he presented to us were interesting and engaging. It was never a dull moment

Professors enthusiasm

That every week I learn something new, I look forward to this class every week,,

Frank's encouragement in challenging the status quo. I also liked that he gave practical advice on career challenges ahead.

I loved this class! I love his website because he is constantly posting new information! He is always energetic and is super passionate about his work! We learned a lot about the field and life in general! He made the three hour class go by sO fast that i wish it was four hours!

If you were teaching this course, what would you do differently?:

wider array of readings

Professor Greeenagel is a good teacher. He encouraged, motivated, and called us for changes. I like him very much, his style of teaching is exceptional. Nothing to do different, on the contrary i learned a lot from him.

Nothing. I absolutely adore him. I wish I could stay in this class all year.

Nothing.

Loved the letter to editor assignments. Maybe spend more time & lecture on viewing the other perspective

Nothing

I know this is going to make Frank roll his eyes, but this class is too much work for a second semester senior class. I get the reasoning behind the work load, but I think that he may be better placed in a class that is Fall semester or for juniors. It's difficult to keep up with this, field work, and all our other classes, especially for students who work and/or are involved in campus activities outside of class.

Not sure

Nothing.

N/A

Talk slower.

The only thing I would do differently would be the way the midterm was set up, But, overall I wouldn't change anything else.

Incorporate more material from text into course / class

Not one thing different

I found very few of the student presentations interesting. It was a big class so we had to sit through a lot of presentations. I would scrap them.

Nothing!

In what ways, if any, has this course or the instructor encouraged your intellectual growth and progress?:

He has presented us with new ideas and practical suggestions and strategies to implement change in the world.

He gave us two books to read and need to give our response about them. Plus, we have to do 10 journals (1 still on the way), to add more, 4 other assignments, and a presentation in class! This says a lot from a professor who wants to take his students to another level. He knows what he is doing, by that way i encounter a lot of difficulties but, he was there to pushed us and I did it. He is a best example of good teachers, and not only that he is an excellent educator.

Professor Greenagel builds healthy relationships with all his students. That's important. He teaches us about relationship building.

In every way.

the articles that he has made us read, and the things he has taught us about.

The way he teaches the course encourages a great deal of self reflection without being a touchy-feely class. He also is blunt and to the point, which helps keep my attention because I don't feel as coddled as in some other courses.

Professor Greenagel has been the first instructor at Rutgers to teach me how to actually act when I'm with a client. His one class prepared me better for how to work with a client then the rest of my social work classes combined. I put a lot of his teachings into good use. For example, when I went on my interview for my next field placement I used the interview skills which he taught us in class. I got the internship despite the fact that it was an incredibly competitive position and that was largely due to the fact that I was taught what questions to ask in his class.

advice was very helpful

To continuously grow and learn

The course made me look deeper into my interest in Social Policy.

This instructor (and course) has made me want to go into the criminal justice system, specifically prisons, and help inmates with after plans for when they are released.

Writing.. definitely helped with my writing. Every time I write papers I try to be conscious about repeating the same word in a sentence

This course has encourage my intellectual growth in many ways, He challenge his student and this help me with my critical thinking skills

I think about Orwell's rule for good writing when I write essays. I also have my list of questions for my upcoming internship.

this class made me learn a lot about the field! I wish I took his class a year earlier! I would have probably changed my career path!

Other comments or suggestions::

My favorite class of undergrad

Rutgers deserves this kind of professors. As a traditional student with kids already at university level, I think, it is worth to pay the entire tuition for this kind of professors. Good wishes for him, and all the best for Rutgers!

Nope!

Try to minimize the tangents. I loved having a professor that is clearly interested in the subject, but sometimes we wasted a lot of time on interests and ran out of time to cover the actual material in class.

I think that Professor Greenagel's talents are being wasted by him teaching online classes because his presence in a classroom is amazing. I took him for an online class but after having him in person it seems like a complete waste of his talent's to put him behind a computer instead of in front of a classroom. He was a good professor online too, but after having him in person the amount that I learned wasn't even comparable.

Not sure what the class was supposed to be like, and what we were supposed to learn, but I leave the class feeling shorted, like i didn't learn whatever it was I was supposed to learn.

Frank makes the class. Without him, this class would not have been half as good. This is one of the only courses within the program that I felt like I learned something useful. I looked forward to it every week and I felt like I was actually receiving something other than a grade. I wish we had more time together because I think there is a lot more he could have taught us if we had the time.

Professor Greenagel is the best professor I have ever had at Rutgers. His enthusiasm and love of teaching shows through his work and it encourages the students to be better learners. He took what could have been a very boring course and made it into a class I looked forward to going to.

Professor Greenagel was a great professor and kept the class entertained, which very much appreciated and helped to foster a great learning environment.

This is by far the best class I have ever taken. The professor was fair with all of his students and taught about real-life dilemmas. I loved it.

Professor Greenegal have a passion for teaching and it come out in his lecture every week Really a great professor.

Overall I liked Frank and the class. Frank does, however, have a bit of a cult of personality vibe that I am wary of. I've been taken advantage of by charismatic people before, so when someone comes on as strong as Frank does, my guard goes up. I'd prefer that kind of teacher to a boring one, but I never completely trusted him, because to a certain extent I felt manipulated.

He is one of the best professors I've ever had!
