Mental Health and/or Substance Misuse Evaluations

A five session evaluation costs $2500

I conduct comprehensive mental health and substance misuse evaluations for third parties. Referral sources include courts, attorneys, schools, universities, employers and Government entities. Written reports are typically completed within 72 hours of the final session.

My evaluation work reflects a conservative, documentation-forward approach. This approach developed through years of clinical practice, teaching and work with courts and Government entities. I write every report with the expectation that it may be reviewed in an adversarial setting.

Findings are stated plainly. Uncertainty is identified when present. Recommendations are made only when clinically and ethically warranted.

Common referral questions include child custody matters. They also include fitness for duty, ability to possess firearms and cases involving substance misuse, relapse risk or public-safety concerns.

Evaluations routinely include screening for anxiety, depression, trauma, suicidal ideation and substance misuse. When indicated by history or presentation, I assess for additional psychiatric or behavioral health conditions. Diagnostic conclusions are based on accepted clinical standards.

Observed and random drug screens are a mandatory component of my evaluations. When appropriate, I provide clear, clinically grounded recommendations. These may address treatment, monitoring, workplace accommodations or risk management.

Courts and attorneys frequently give significant weight to my reports. This is due to my experience, credentials and professional writing background. My role is not advocacy. My role is independent, ethical and clinically sound assessment.

To be explicit: payment for an evaluation does not guarantee a favorable outcome. Findings and recommendations are based solely on clinical judgment, ethical obligations and public-safety considerations.

I do not serve simultaneously as evaluator and treating clinician for the same individual. Evaluations are conducted independently. They are not a substitute for ongoing treatment unless explicitly arranged and agreed upon by all parties.

I have extensive experience evaluating Veterans, Soldiers, Marines, Airmen and Sailors. I also evaluate Law Enforcement officers. This includes matters involving duty status, fitness for continued service, risk assessment and exposure to critical incidents.
